Read on to know more about him and what drives him to be his best at work every day.<h2 class="heading-node" id="9bf2">What happens in your typical day at M2P?</h2>When I get inside the office, the first thing I do is clean and reorganize my workspace. The level of cleaning often depends on my mood and the time I reach the office. Once the cleaning is done, I start working as per the list I had already drawn up the previous day. While all this happens, I also take a little break to brainstorm and discuss new and existing projects with my colleagues. Often these Eureka ideas happen at the Mulberry tea shop, which is our favorite place to regroup and chat about our plan of action. Those discussions have sometimes gone for two or three hours at a stretch.<h2 class="heading-node" id="8f39">Have you always wanted to be a developer?</h2>No, not exactly; I wanted to be in so many professions just like every other kid out there. But when I saw my dad, I wanted to be an architect who designs impressive buildings, but in school, I had an aptitude for solving problems. So even though I wanted to opt for Civil Engineering, the popular choice at home was Electronics and Communication Engineering. I also wanted to learn the CORE STEM of Electrical or Computers, so it was a comfortable choice. Soon, software development became my cup of tea, and today I am a Solutions Architect.<h2 class="heading-node" id="9972">If you had your heart set on being a developer, how did fintech become a part of it?</h2>Working in the fintech industry happened purely by chance, and I didn’t exactly have any thoughts about which industry I should make my mark.&nbsp;Then, as a fresher, I got an opportunity to work with FSS, where I was exposed to both closed and open-source platform projects that helped me master many software languages. So my learning has been huge in this industry, along with opportunities as well. And then, as they say, the rest is history.<h2 class="heading-node" id="a7a0">What drew you to M2P?</h2>I was working in the gaming industry for some time, but I lacked the drive to be my best during that time. So, I was actively searching for opportunities to be part of the fintech industry again. And as per tradition, we usually turn to our friends when we face professional troubles. Those conversations led my friend to introduce me to Muthu, our CTO. After an insightful discussion, I found out that my thought process had found a match with M2P. It has been a great ride till now.<h2 class="heading-node" id="8cd1">Has COVID altered your working style?</h2>Yes, it has tremendously, and I think like everything else, there are two sides to a coin. I am enjoying the flexibility of choosing my work hours. I also get to spend time with my family and often attend team calls with my little helper (son). But I do miss my co-workers and our interactions. We would brainstorm, discuss and argue about our ideas, solutions, and the next step. It was also fun. I want to get back to physical work as soon as possible (laughs)<h2 class="heading-node" id="af94">Do you see any change in the fintech code community pre and post-pandemic?</h2>Yes, there has been a significant change. Earlier, people were not so trusting with a card, UPI, or NFC payments. With COVID on the rise, people were willing to try out different payment methods. For example, there has been a massive increase in online shopping today, so it creates a demand for payment gateway and other allied services; it is sort of a ripple effect that creates a need for innovative means of payment and so on. In fact, fintech is moving way faster than it was before the pandemic.<h2 class="heading-node" id="9873">Have you played a practical joke in college?</h2> Nothing much in college, but I did have my share of fun in school. It was my friend’s birthday, and we were celebrating it at another’s friend home, which was near our school. Incidentally, it was the day of our final exams. So, when the whole school was diligently writing exams, we were busy partying. Needless we got caught in the act by our principal, who suspended us for a day. Like these, there are many instances of us playing hooky in school.<h2 class="heading-node" id="67e2">What’s that one thing your colleagues don’t know about you?</h2>I used to write poems during my school and college days<h2 class="heading-node" id="7c3a">What are your other interests?</h2>I love to go on treks, solving puzzles, and play chess and shuttle. Also, I am a hard-core foodie who loves to taste a variety of cuisines.<h2 class="heading-node" id="3e46">What will you love to build/develop in case you have unlimited resources and time?</h2>It is more of a thought process rather than an idea. How do you usually start your workday?</h2>I start my day on a positive note, by making a cool to-do list. As soon as I reach the office, I catch up with my mailbox which has an uncanny ability (will explain that below). After that, I get on a discussion with my team to chart out the course for the day.Now, let me share how my email box acts funny. You see, I receive most of my priority jobs through emails and I always try to read them all. Sometimes, the more I read, the more emails keep flooding my mailbox. The torrent of email inflow becomes so scary, that I feel the unread count only increases and doesn’t seem to reduce at all. At times, I feel my outlook may run out of numbers to count one day… LOL!<h2 class="heading-node" id="c38d">2. What are your main responsibilities as DVP- Business Operations?</h2> At M2P, I lead Financial Operations (FinOps). My daily focus includes tracking vendor payments and payables in the form of Account Receivables (AR) and Account Payables (AP). I help my team keep track of the invoices we raise every day while checking pending payments and follow-up emails.<h2 class="heading-node" id="6046">3. How have you grown through the years as an M2Peer?</h2> I started out at M2P in 2017. And I am proud that my team and I will be completing our 5th year soon. Earlier, I was handling Human Resources, Administration, Card Operations, and Finance. Now after transitioning to FinOps, it is very inspiring to see how we have grown as a team in the past few years. I have learned a lot from my fellow M2Peers and our founders.<h2 class="heading-node" id="fec7">4. Is there a quote/saying that motivates you?</h2>There isn’t a phrase as such. But there is a word that brings the best out of me.It’s&nbsp;‘Self- confidence’.I believe that being confident in every single thing I do drives and motivates me.<h2 class="heading-node" id="e8df">5. What’s that one thing your colleagues don’t know about you?</h2> Well, nobody knows that I’m a short-tempered person by nature. My colleagues wouldn’t believe this as I never lose my head at work. We wondered what makes Akshatha shine the way she does. We got into a candid chat with her to get to know her secret to an efficient and productive workday, along with her interests and her wonderful journey as an M2Peer. Here you go!<h2 class="heading-node" id="g2n8sbwru" style="text-align: justify">How do you usually start your workday?</h2>I start my day on a joyful, positive note. I begin my work by making a to-do list for the day. Then, I organize my work schedule to carry out my responsibilities with greater efficiency. Finding challenging things to work on is my passion. Solving issues that come my way and helping fellow teammates with their tasks makes my day.<h2 class="heading-node" id="qjwthdj8e" style="text-align: justify">What are your main responsibilities as Engineering Lead?</h2>I lead the Micro Finance product at Finflux. My responsibility lies in understanding client requirements, coordinating product design, and planning product development. Managing the complete product lifecycle from requirement gathering to go-live falls under my purview. I also develop certain product features to be in touch with core technical concepts. The mantra that helps me add value to whatever I do is “Build the product right and build the right product”.<h2 class="heading-node" id="w8nbftwew" style="text-align: justify">How have you grown through the years as an M2Peer?</h2>I joined Finflux as an intern almost 3 years back during college campus placements with no experience in the software domain. From there, I started my internship in the final year and after graduation, I continued as a full-time employee. Even though I started out at Finflux, looking back as an M2Peer, I am proud of myself for how far I have grown.&nbsp; My responsibilities have helped me mature not just as a tech person but also as a leader. The nurturing nature of the leadership team helped me explore my strength in different fields of the product and not restrict myself to just being a software developer. The technical exposure, challenges, and guidance from my mentors helped me grow in my professional life. I strongly believe that when we put in our hard work &amp; efforts at something, we will surely see the growth intended. Steve Jobs's quote always inspires me, ‘You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward.’ I connect myself to the saying because everything I work on might not have an immediate impact. But I trust the process and take up every opportunity that comes on my way.<h2 class="heading-node" id="dtb3sxie3" style="text-align: justify">Have you ever played a practical joke in your school/college days?</h2> I have not played any practical jokes during my school/college times.<h2 class="heading-node" id="ps8kbprqk" style="text-align: justify">What’s that one thing your colleagues don’t know about you?</h2>Well, nobody knows that I was an emcee and writer during my college days. I hosted several events and was an editor of my monthly college magazine. I love anchoring events and I'm very fond of reading and writing articles.<h2 class="heading-node" id="q7fwoznm9" style="text-align: justify">What inspires you the most about your workplace?</h2>It's the people. M2P is a space where you can share your thoughts and suggestions in an open-minded way with everyone, right from founders to your peers. There are no barriers to communicating new ideas and this motivates me a lot. I also get complete freedom to take individual decisions and own them. This ability inspires me to keep improving by analyzing the outcomes of every decision I take.<h2 class="heading-node" id="wkxq6k3s1" style="text-align: justify">What’s your idea of a perfect day?</h2>A perfect day for me is executing my tasks as planned and accommodating ad-hoc tasks in the best way possible. If I finish my work on time and get quality time with my friends and family, I would call it a perfect day.<h2 class="heading-node" id="0b5jkfrux" style="text-align: justify">What was your career path before and how it has changed?</h2>I started this amazing journey as an intern to become what I am today. M2P is a place with lots of positive vibes that motivate one to keep improving.&nbsp; When we are surrounded by positive people and goal-oriented mindsets, accomplishing great things and scaling new heights becomes possible. My seniors in Finflux were very supportive and always guided me to sharpen my leadership skills. Here I'd like to shower a special mention to Dhiru, because of the way he comes up with innovative solutions for any issue. This inspires me to think in a unique way, make things possible and develop the 'never to give up' attitude. Working on various segments like gold loans, microfinance, and other fintech products gave me a lot of exposure to understanding how every product works.&nbsp;I started to inculcate this knowledge into anything I design based on the target customers. The maturity of understanding how each customer would require the feature or product to work is a big learning I acquired. Now I step into the 4th year with M2P. It's amazing! It's indeed an incredible step-by-step journey to reach where I am today. I look forward to greater experiences and learning.<h2 class="heading-node" id="sjootmbfo" style="text-align: justify">What are your hobbies/ interests?</h2>Basically, I am a classical singer and I never miss indulging myself in extracurricular activities. As an Abacus graduate, solving puzzles is my passion. Though traveling is my hidden interest, I haven't gotten the opportunity to explore that area.
