As a burgeoning fintech hub, the UAE is set to spearhead the quest for sustainability.<h2 class="heading-node" id="721f" style="text-align: justify">UAE’s commitment to sustainable finance</h2>As a global financial center, the United Arab Emirates acknowledges the role of sustainable finance in achieving economic growth, climatic goals, and energy diversification objectives. Subsequently, Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) launched the UAE Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) in 2019. The stakeholders include the UAE ministries, regulatory authorities, and other government bodies responsible for developing ecologically sustainable finance policies. In November 2021, the SFWG released a public statement of its commitment to sustainability objectives by adhering to the Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative and establishing sustainable finance policies.Sustainable finance is a cornerstone in empowering the UAE and broader stakeholders to attain net-zero emissions targets. The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in Abu Dhabi are leading the way in accelerating the expansion of sustainable finance in the UAE. They are set to foster a thriving ecosystem for sustainable finance by enabling private capital investments. This is expected to improve the financial system’s stability, boost transparency, and achieve long-term sustainable development benefits.<h2 class="heading-node" id="e565" style="text-align: justify">Sustainable fintech alliance</h2>The MENA Fintech Association (MFTA), the leading voice and nexus of the Fintech community in the region, launched the Sustainable Fintech Alliance to foster MENA Fintechs in becoming leaders of sustainable approaches. MFTA aspires to help its members embrace and integrate sustainability as part of their organizations’ culture and values and create positive impacts in the wake of the increasingly acute environmental and social challenges.M2P is one of the founding partners of MFTA alongside Mastercard, Checkout.com, Codebase Technologies, YAP, Marshal, BPC, Taptap Send, and GPS. The partners are in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and The London Institute of Banking and Finance MENA (LIBF). Together, the Alliance believes in harnessing the technological revolution and innovation to redesign financial services to reinforce sustainability.<h2 class="heading-node" id="5512" style="text-align: justify">Sustainability framework</h2>Sustainable finance is considered a strategy to facilitate projects that mitigate and manage threats associated with the broad range of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks.Against this backdrop, the DIFC devised a general Sustainability Framework to address existing gaps and challenges related to mainstream sustainable finance practices. It also seeks to augment the demand and supply of sustainable finance products and low-carbon, climate-resilient investment projects.The four strategic pillars underpinning the framework are Social, Environmental, Governance, and Government Alignment. The framework is designed to scale up the development of a business environment for diversified and innovative sustainable finance products. Another strategic intent of the framework is to empower the mobilization of private capital towards environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient investments.<h2 class="heading-node" id="a3fe" style="text-align: justify">M2P’s allegiance to sustainability</h2>As an earnest member of the MFTA, M2P is committed to implementing credible and transparent sustainability initiatives across global operations. He is the go-to person for anything related to fintech and beyond.We feature this whiz kid and ex-banker as our Star of the Month this June.&nbsp;Curious to know what inspires Devang and keeps his going?Keep scrolling.<h2 class="heading-node" id="pwnuthg73">How do you usually start your workday? &nbsp;</h2>I ensure my mornings have a positive start to set my day right. My mornings are filled with prayers and news reading rituals.&nbsp;LinkedIn is my favourite spot to get the hot and happening news around the globe.&nbsp;When we are fast asleep, other countries are up, so there is a lot to catch up on when we wake up. This is my routine before I go to bed as well. &nbsp;The to-do list is my saviour for the day. I list all my tasks and ensure those are checked on the same day. Time is limited for all, so I put everything I want to do on my calendar.&nbsp;Recently, I have added yoga, workouts and swimming to the morning activities for about 30 minutes daily, which helps me a lot with energy and stamina throughout the day.&nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="y351ehfie">What are your main responsibilities as VP of Business Development? &nbsp;</h2>The list below pretty much sums up my typical workday.&nbsp;<ul class="list-node" id="ojq9ghvpf"><li>Client meetings&nbsp;</li><li>Understanding client requirements and offering solutions&nbsp;</li><li>Brainstorming innovative business ideas, tricks and strategy &nbsp;</li><li>Competitor analysis&nbsp;</li><li>Communication of new product developments to potential clients&nbsp;</li><li>Providing management with feedback&nbsp;</li><li>Developing entry-level salesforce&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborating with other companies (M&amp;A)&nbsp;</li></ul><h2 class="heading-node" id="mu95ncss7">How have you grown through the years as an M2Peer?   &nbsp;</h2>Before I started my innings with M2P, I was a banker. I worked with banks like Citi Bank, DCB Bank and RBL Bank, where my core responsibility was managing customers and growing inorganically. In the banking sector, the groundwork was established and all set.But when I moved to M2P, the environment was completely different.&nbsp;I was one of the few early joiners in the M2P family.&nbsp;I got a lot of exposure to managing difficult clients and ensuring that the business relationship was built firmly. One of my best learnings after stepping into the fintech ecosystem is knowing how to build and manage relationships.&nbsp;This helped me to become a "Rainmaker", i.e., someone who is not just being transactional but following a "Cockroach Startup Approach" (to keep moving and thriving despite changing market conditions, environments, or investment scenarios).&nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="ayfoc0qlr">Is there a quote/saying that motivates you?   &nbsp;</h2>I follow two sayings:&nbsp;"Dear self, never try to defeat people; just try to win them."&nbsp; &nbsp;Another one that motivates me greatly in my career is "Sales Department isn't the whole company, but the whole company better be the sales department."&nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="hhktcakit">What's that one thing your colleagues don't know about you? &nbsp;</h2>My friends almost know everything about me, but they were surprised to see my dance video. Most of them don't know that I&nbsp; hold a Brown Belt in Karate.&nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="tvlajp4x3">What inspires you the most about M2P? &nbsp;</h2>My daily dose of inspiration comes from our very own founders. They taught me three important things.<ul class="list-node" id="gk35j502m"><li>Thinking and driving the business forward</li><li>Setting the business expectations right</li><li>Staying grounded in difficult situations</li></ul>I always think of our founders as the sun, that radiates incredible energy. It's all about how people absorb this energy. When taken positively- people can feel a spark (motivation to grow) and receive vitamin D. If taken negatively, people would feel burned out. &nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="6i27u2ty2">What's your idea of a perfect day?   &nbsp;</h2>Perfect day? I would rather say the perfect start for the day is to wake up without an alarm.&nbsp;&nbsp;Recently one piece of advice helped me a lot. And I would like to share it with you too.Find a peaceful place in your house and sit there for 10-15 mins every day to meditate. This has brought good results, and I'm sure you will realize it too.  &nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="akmnja20o">What was your career path before joining M2P, and how has it changed? &nbsp;</h2>I was in the banking sector before starting my journey with M2P. I am proud to say that I was the best in our team but not in banking. I feel that banks will restrict you to only one ecosystem until you don't reach the management level, whereas fintech gives you a holistic view of the business.&nbsp;While in banking, I received much recognition from the senior leadership team at times like town hall meet or annual days. But vice versa happened in fintech, where you don't need an award, just learning and working towards improvement is high enough. &nbsp;Everyone in the team will recognize you due to your hard work, irrespective of your position.I go by the ideology that, 'the day the market knows your company because of you, that day will be your career-changing moment'.&nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="v8llna9bv">What are your hobbies/interests? &nbsp;</h2>I love grooving and dancing whenever I feel like it. I also like to drive and explore new destinations. In addition, learning new is how I spend most of my leisure time.&nbsp;   &nbsp;<h2 class="heading-node" id="a7wa4zfx5">Anything else you want to share about M2P? &nbsp;</h2>M2P will have incredible velocity in the coming days! I believe that if you wake up with a chill and calm mindset, you will be ready to rule the day.Wonder how I maintain my cool?The secret is yoga and meditation. They soothe my nerves and sharpen my mind.2. What are your main responsibilities as Operations Manager?The Operations Team at M2P works in full-on active mode round the clock. In fact, we are in a never-ending race with the clock.Every day starts afresh with a new to-do list. We don’t carry forward any unfinished business to the next day. This reduces work pressure as we complete our daily tasks on time.Now I feel my adrenaline pumping... It creates a perfect vibe to start out my workday with positive energy. Then comes the main part where I will schedule and align my tasks for an exciting day at work. This helps keep my tempo up and ensures that my mind is in sync with the assigned tasks.<h2 class="heading-node" id="ed8c">What are your main responsibilities as Senior Operations Engineer?</h2>My responsibilities include attending day-to-day operations such as query handling, coordinating with our partners, and dispute management for the partner banks. I also provide MIS support within the stipulated time ensuring that my TAT is met. I also coordinate with internal team members to ensure that all processes are aligned intact with the requirement and result in zero escalations.<h2 class="heading-node" id="20b2">How have you grown through the years as an M2Peer?</h2>M2P has offered nothing less than a wonderful experience for me. I’ve been part of this payment ecosystem since its initial days. I’ve learned a great deal here, especially to assert myself and multitask without losing focus. Really grateful for the honor.I believe that daily habits set the tone for success or otherwise. So, I ensure my morning routine preps me for the exciting and challenging tasks ahead in the day. Then I kickstart my work mode by creating a to-do list and checking for critical alerts and messages from our internal teams and partners.My goal is to acknowledge client issues and smoothen out the process of issue identification and resolution. The next step would be to ensure that our team sorts out the issues in the shortest TAT possible and makes the client stress-free.Being customer-centric and time conscious are the mantras that keep me thriving throughout the day.What are your main responsibilities in tech support as a system analyst?Ensuring that our clients face zero issues in their journey with us is our ultimate responsibility. And in the event of any technical glitches, I help them resolve the issues without any hassle. To achieve complete efficiency in tech support, we have an unspoken golden rule which goes like this."Stick to the process of any live issue being reported and then resolve it as soon as possible."In our team, we have a practice. We ensure that all our observations, experiences, and outcomes of issue analysis are shared with our peers. Since everyone in the team is aware of all possible issues and the resolution breakthroughs, it helps us identify patterns and expedite issue resolution. I’m really proud of this collaborative knowledge-sharing initiative in our team.<h2 class="heading-node" id="f019">How have you grown through the years as an M2Peer?</h2>When I became an M2Peer, I was a payment industry rookie with just two years of experience. I had minimal understanding of payments and reconciliation.But my life as an M2Peer for the past five years has been an enormous learning curve. It has transformed my understanding of transaction life cycle, payments and made me love all things fintech.<h2 class="heading-node" id="17dd">Is there a quote/saying that motivates you?</h2>Yes, I believe that,"Whatever mess we create, we can and must always be the ones cleaning it up."<h2 class="heading-node" id="dc69">What’s that one thing your colleagues don’t know about you?</h2>Being almost five years as an M2Peer, I’m an open book. My colleagues know everything about me.<h2 class="heading-node" id="4cc9">What inspires you the most about M2P?</h2>The one thing that inspires me the most about M2P is the work culture and how people help each other learn new things here. Having started as someone with little experience, I have been able to gain knowledge on various aspects such as payments and more. M2P is the best place for all beginners to learn and shape their careers.<h2 class="heading-node" id="5166">What’s your idea of a perfect day?</h2>To be honest, finding a perfect day in tech support is tough.Delivering end-to-end tech support is a never-ending process. But there is lots of sunshine when we close out issues on time and receive a client appreciation for our toil.<h2 class="heading-node" id="9956">What was your career path before joining M2P, and how has it changed?</h2>When I graduated in 2015, I was unsure about my career. But growing with M2Peers in the past five years made me learn and appreciate fintech. I have changed my perspective from zero to being the one who likes to learn and explore fintech!<h2 class="heading-node" id="bd97">What are your hobbies/interests?</h2>Most of my hobbies include spending time with my family and doing fun chores. I also like to spend quality time with my nephews. As our FinOps leader, he is a specialist in fixing processes and solving problems.Today he shares with us, how he steers FinOps while trying to clear his spooky mailbox (that’s clearly a challenge!). How do you usually start your workday?</h2>I start my day on a positive note, by making a cool to-do list. As soon as I reach the office, I catch up with my mailbox which has an uncanny ability (will explain that below). After that, I get on a discussion with my team to chart out the course for the day.Now, let me share how my email box acts funny. You see, I receive most of my priority jobs through emails and I always try to read them all. Sometimes, the more I read, the more emails keep flooding my mailbox. The torrent of email inflow becomes so scary, that I feel the unread count only increases and doesn’t seem to reduce at all. At times, I feel my outlook may run out of numbers to count one day… LOL!<h2 class="heading-node" id="c38d">2. What are your main responsibilities as DVP- Business Operations?</h2> At M2P, I lead Financial Operations (FinOps). My daily focus includes tracking vendor payments and payables in the form of Account Receivables (AR) and Account Payables (AP). I help my team keep track of the invoices we raise every day while checking pending payments and follow-up emails.<h2 class="heading-node" id="6046">3. How have you grown through the years as an M2Peer?</h2> I started out at M2P in 2017. And I am proud that my team and I will be completing our 5th year soon. Earlier, I was handling Human Resources, Administration, Card Operations, and Finance. Now after transitioning to FinOps, it is very inspiring to see how we have grown as a team in the past few years. I have learned a lot from my fellow M2Peers and our founders.<h2 class="heading-node" id="fec7">4. Is there a quote/saying that motivates you?</h2>There isn’t a phrase as such. But there is a word that brings the best out of me.It’s&nbsp;‘Self- confidence’.I believe that being confident in every single thing I do drives and motivates me.<h2 class="heading-node" id="e8df">5. What’s that one thing your colleagues don’t know about you?</h2> Well, nobody knows that I’m a short-tempered person by nature. My colleagues wouldn’t believe this as I never lose my head at work. But, outside work, people can see that I’m hot-headed.<h2 class="heading-node" id="95a5">6. What inspires you the most about M2P?</h2> It’s the way Madhu, our co-founder works. Working alongside him for the past 5 years has been a huge inspiration and has taught me both life and business skills.<h2 class="heading-node" id="accf">7. What’s your idea of a perfect day?</h2>My best day would be when my emails count to zero! Yeah, that’s something I’d love to see. Other than that, my perfect day would be when I chill out with my family.<h2 class="heading-node" id="834c">8. What was your career path before joining M2P, and how has it changed?</h2>Before joining, I was involved in commercial activities such as billing and maintaining logistics. Since M2P, my career started to take a definitive shape where I now lead finance operations and contribute to my team the most.<h2 class="heading-node" id="c604">9. What are your hobbies/interests?</h2>Cricket and bike rides are my jam. I play weekly matches and enjoy exploring new places whenever I can. But as a movie buff, my favorite activity is to watch movies. I hardly miss out on new releases!As an avid reader, I learn every day at my mailbox library.<h2 class="heading-node" id="c61e">10.
